Wed­ding pho­tographs for Jolie and Nori, at the Uni­ver­sity Club in San Fran­cisco, were taken by JAY­TSAIpho­tog­ra­phy . Yukiko noticed that Jay’s pic­tures included nearly all the flo­ral arrange­ments of the Ike­bana Wed­ding Flow­ers theme.

Yukiko used Spring flowers in this Rising Orchid design: white phaelanopsis, green spider mums, equisitum and harakeke.  This freestyle ikebana is characterized as respectful and uplifting.

We have saved photographs of several years of Yukiko’s original floral designs off-line – that means you can’t see them where they are now.

Do you want to see them?

If you do, we’ll put them on Flickr.com galleries and integrate them with our new website.

We have a small, photo collection as a toe-in-the-water placeholder on Flickr now. 

The idea is to expand this presence by several hundred images (well, maybe a few thousand). 

We would catalogue the new images  by categories such as Ikebana, Wreaths, etc., on Flickr and also make the pictures accessible on our own site or blog.  Or both.

Yukiko’s new Floral Design website and blog will use the latest WordPress software –- design and ecommerce CMS interface with social media (Facebook, Flickr, Twitter).

We’re building the new site’s Content Management System (CMS) behind the scenes — so it won’t interfere with Yukiko’s original website and blog.  

When can you see it?  In a few weeks the “new” website will re-launch here –  in place of Yukiko’s original website and blog.

Meanwhile, we’ll post progress reports here on this blog — what’s happening in development of the new site and questions as they arise.

Today I went to the de Young to choose the placement of my floral design.

They let us in the de Young Museum when it’s closed. That’s when I pick out the art pieces that inspire my floral design for the Bouquets to Art exhibition, April 20–24.

I choose five pieces of art and wait to hear from the coordinator which one will be assigned to me this year.

The decision reaches me in April, so I have only a week or so to conceive my design and gather materials.  

This is my ninth year and I have kept a photographic record of my Museum designs on my website.

Again this year, I will post the details of my new design here in my blog, so follow along.

This five foot arrangement by Yukiko is traditional for the buffet at Smith Ranch Homes.   Flowers, leaves, branches and fruits of the season: including anthuriums, roses, harakeke, berries, baby apples and lemons.
